Centennial speed record for steam car has officially been beaten

A steam powered supercar measuring 7.62 meters has officially beaten the world record of ground speed by accomplishing an average speed of 225.05 Km/h (139.843mph) over two 1.6 Km ( 1 mile ) runs. The vehicle produced by a British team based in Lymington, Hampshire, during the last 10 years was driven by Charles Burnett III who reached the top speed of 243 Km/h ( 151mph )

The previous speed record for steam powered vehicles had been established more than 100 years ago by the American Fred Marriott in a Stanley steam car at the Daytona Beach Road Course in 1906 and was set to 204.38 Km/h ( 127mph ).
