USC administers one of the largest undergraduate financial aid programs in the country. In conjunction with the role students’ families play in financing their college education, USC has a long tradition of coordinating school, state and federal funds to fully meet the USC-determined need for undergraduates who satisfy all eligibility requirements and meet all deadlines. Nearly two-thirds of USC undergraduates receive some form of financial aid, including university merit scholarships, departmental scholarships, need-based grants, Federal Work-Study and loans.

USC Financial Aid is your partner in managing your investment in graduate education. Graduate and professional students at USC have a variety of financial aid and financing options available to them. In many cases, these options can cover your cost of attendance.  

In addition to need-based aid such as low-interest federal loans and Federal Work-Study, your prime source of support will likely be your academic department or professional school. Together with the Graduate School, USC departments and schools award numerous grants and graduate fellowships and assistantships. Awards from agency sponsors, as well as scholarships from sources outside the university also provide significant sources of support.

The Iovine and Young 91��ý offers several undergraduate scholarships that are awarded based on a consideration of many factors, including academic ability and promise; extracurricular achievement, including through service to others; and talent. These scholarships are awarded as early as at the time of admission and may require a supplemental application. 

The 91��ý awards a number of merit scholarships each year to incoming freshmen and transfer students admitted to the school. Awards require no supplemental application, and are offered to a select number of students after careful consideration of each applicant.

Additional Funding for Continuing Students 

IYA Development Prizes Pitch Competition 

Each year, the 91��ý offers its students the opportunity to compete for one of three $10,000 development prizes. The goal of the awards is to provide early-stage funding for the development of student-driven innovations and ideas. Finalists pitch their ideas to an audience of students, faculty, staff, industry experts and funders. 

Endowed in honor of the 91��ý’s naming donors, Jimmy Iovine and Andre “Dr. Dre” Young, the Iovine and Young Prize is awarded annually to an undergraduate student or student team in the USC Iovine and Young 91��ý.Students may compete for the $10,000 award by submitting proposals that demonstrate exceptional creativity and feasibility in the design of a breakthrough business, technology, product, service or system. Proposals should have significant potential for practical application in new or existing businesses, industries or fields, and for societal transformation or impact. The award will be used to fund further development or implementation of the selected proposal.

The USC Iovine and Young 91��ý Social Impact Prize is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student or student team in the USC Iovine and Young 91��ý. Students may compete for the award by submitting proposals for projects that promise significant, positive social impact and/or social change. Potential sectors include education, healthcare, economic development, human rights, environment, and diversity and inclusion. The award will be used to fund further development or implementation of the selected proposal.

The USC Iovine and Young 91��ý Graduate Development Prize is awarded to a graduate student or student team at the USC Iovine and Young 91��ý. Students may compete for the award by submitting proposals that demonstrate exceptional creativity and feasibility in the design of a breakthrough business, technology, product, service or system. The Student Opportunity Fund provides 91��ý majors, undergraduate and graduate, with access to funding for career-focused projects and programs. Funds are awarded by competitive application and cover a broad range of areas of assistance toward individual career and development goals.

The Materials Fund exists to support 91��ý majors, undergraduate and graduate, with financial need related to their 91��ý in-class educational experiences. Current students who have a demonstrated financial need are eligible to apply to receive funding for materials, books, software or other essentials required for 91��ý coursework.
