The official residence of British prime minister, in Downing Street No. 10 has a new tenant. Larry, the cat, joined David Cameron, serving the family of the British head of state with his hunter’s instinct in an attempt to dismiss a plague of rats currently living in the British mansion.
According to the BBC, the new tenant’s arrival comes after weeks of speculation about the potential measures that would be taken to control infestations after a large black rat has been seen in the housing.
According to the spokesman from Downing Street, Larry was chosen due to their “intense hunting instinct”, developed during the times he lived on the streets, before he went to the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
BBC says, he is the last one of the long line of cats at the No. 10 and will receive the title of “Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office”, following Sybil who lived there between 2007 and 2008.
